Blueberry Lemonade

This Homemade Blueberry Lemonade is the perfect way to cool down on a hot sunny day. It is so easy to make and requires only 4 ingredients…and ice. Before we get into the ‘how-tos’, tell me why when I was younger I used to think blueberries are just small grapes? And no one ever told me otherwise. Anyway, this recipe is just a guide so feel free to make it your own.

Tips and variations:

• The recipe calls for a blender but since this is a homemade drink, we can always make-do with what is available. You can mash the blueberries with a pestle and mortar or the side of a rolling pin or even the back of a spoon. Just make sure the blueberries are fresh not frozen solid
• As stated above, frozen blueberries would be a good variation if you like the drink super cold (and if you have a blender)
• You can switch blueberries for strawberries to make a strawberry lemonade or blackberries or raspberries…you get the gist
• You can also swap the sugar for honey
• If you’re one of those people who enjoys the pulp in juice, skip the sieving step

Blueberry Lemonade

Equipment

• 1 Blender

Ingredients

  

• 1 cup Fresh Blueberries
• 1 cup Cold water
• 2 Large Lemons
• 2 Tbsp Sugar
• Ice cubes

To Garnish

• Lemon slices
• A few Blueberries

Instructions

 

• Place the blueberries and water in a blender and blend on medium-high speed until a thin puree is formed.
• Strain the puree through a sieve
• Squeeze the lemons into the puree, add sugar and stir well. Add more water if desired
• Layer the ice cubes, remaining blueberries and lemon slices in a glass. Pour the lemonade in and enjoy
